YoY
Year over Year (YoY) is a comparative analysis method that measures how a business metric — such as revenue, pipeline value, customer count, or churn rate — has changed relative to the same period in the previous year. YoY comparison eliminates seasonality effects that distort period-over-period analysis (comparing Q4 revenue to Q3 revenue, for example, may reflect seasonal patterns rather than business performance trends). In CRM-sourced reporting, YoY metrics are used in executive business reviews, board presentations, and investor communications to demonstrate growth trajectory over time. CRM platforms with multi-year historical data enable YoY analysis without exporting to external tools — provided that deal close dates, revenue fields, and period definitions have been consistently maintained from year to year.
