Stage
In CRM, a Stage is a defined position within a structured process — a deal pipeline, a customer lifecycle, a support case workflow, or a project timeline — that indicates the current status of a record and determines what actions are appropriate or required to advance it. Stage-based management is one of the most powerful capabilities a CRM provides: it gives every team member a shared vocabulary for discussing process progress, enables stage-based automation triggers, supports probability-weighted forecasting, and provides the data for conversion rate analysis between stages.
