Sales Activity
Sales Activity refers to any action taken by a sales representative in pursuit of advancing a prospect or deal — including phone calls, emails, meetings, product demonstrations, proposal deliveries, and follow-up communications. Tracking sales activity in CRM is both a performance management and a coaching tool: managers who can see activity volumes and types at the individual level can distinguish between a revenue shortfall caused by insufficient activity (a behavior problem) and one caused by low conversion rates despite adequate activity (a skill or positioning problem). Activity-based management — setting clear standards for call volumes, meeting rates, and follow-up frequencies, then tracking adherence through CRM — is a foundation of disciplined sales management.
