Revenue

Revenue in a CRM context refers to the income generated from sales of products or services to customers — the primary measure of commercial performance tracked through closed deals in the pipeline. CRM systems generate revenue data as a byproduct of deal management: when opportunities are marked Closed Won, their contract values are aggregated into period revenue figures used for quota attainment reporting, territory performance analysis, and company financial reporting. The accuracy of CRM-reported revenue depends on the discipline of deal record maintenance: incorrect close dates, inaccurate opportunity values, or deals closed in the wrong period create discrepancies between CRM data and financial system records that require reconciliation.
