Profile
A Profile in CRM is a configuration object that defines the baseline set of permissions, default page layouts, and accessible features for a category of users. Every user is assigned a profile that determines their starting access level within the system — what objects they can access, what actions they can perform, and what features they can see. Common profile types include Sales Representative, Customer Success Manager, Sales Manager, System Administrator, and Partner Portal User. Profiles define the default access that applies to all users in that category, with permission sets used to layer on additional access for individuals who need capabilities beyond the profile baseline. Well-designed profiles reduce security risk by applying least-privilege access principles to user populations by default.
