Hierarchy Permission
Hierarchy Permission is a CRM access control mechanism where users at a higher level in the organizational hierarchy automatically have visibility into and management rights over records owned by users in positions below them. This model reflects the way B2B sales organizations actually function: a sales manager must be able to see and act on the opportunities in their team's pipeline; a regional director must have visibility into all deals across their territory. Without hierarchy-based permissions, managers would need explicit sharing configurations on every individual record — an unmanageable administrative overhead. Hierarchy permission models must be designed carefully: overly broad visibility settings at senior levels can expose sensitive competitive or commercial information inappropriately.
