Field

In CRM, a Field is a single data attribute within a record — such as the company name on an account record, the email address on a contact record, or the expected close date on an opportunity. Fields are the atomic units of CRM data: every piece of information stored about a customer, deal, or interaction lives in a field. The design of a CRM's field structure — which fields exist, which are required, how they are validated, and how they relate to each other — directly determines the quality and usability of the data the system produces. Understanding field types (text, number, date, picklist, currency, lookup relationship) is foundational knowledge for anyone responsible for CRM administration or customization.
