Data Model

A Data Model defines how data is structured, organized, and related within a CRM system — specifying the objects (accounts, contacts, opportunities), the fields within each object, the data types those fields accept, and the relationships between objects. Understanding a CRM's data model is foundational to effective customization: configuring fields correctly, building meaningful reports, designing automations, and planning integrations all require clear knowledge of how the platform's data is structured. Enterprise organizations with complex requirements often conduct a data model review before CRM selection, assessing whether the platform's native model can accommodate their business structure or will require extensive custom object configuration.
