Data Export is the process of extracting records from a CRM system into an external format — such as CSV, Excel, or JSON — for purposes including analysis in external tools, backup, regulatory reporting, or migration to another system. The ability to export data freely is an important consideration in CRM vendor selection: some platforms impose limitations on export volume, frequency, or supported formats, or charge additional fees for bulk exports. For enterprise buyers, data portability — the ability to extract all data in a usable format without vendor assistance — is a contractual negotiation point that protects against vendor lock-in and ensures business continuity if a platform migration becomes necessary.
