Data Deduplication

Data Deduplication is the process of identifying and resolving duplicate records within a CRM system — where the same account, contact, or lead exists as two or more separate entries. Duplicate records create compounding problems: sales reps work the same prospect from different records with no shared history, reporting inflates counts, marketing sends campaigns multiple times to the same recipient, and customer service can't see the full interaction history. Deduplication requires both preventive controls (blocking duplicate creation at the point of entry) and remediation processes (merging or removing existing duplicates). Enterprise CRM implementations with large-scale data migrations are particularly vulnerable to duplicate proliferation and benefit from dedicated deduplication tooling during and after go-live.
