Data Access
Data Access in CRM refers to the permissions and controls that determine which users, roles, or external systems can view, modify, or export specific data within the platform. Getting data access right is both a security imperative and an operational requirement: too restrictive, and legitimate users cannot do their jobs; too permissive, and sensitive commercial data is exposed to personnel who should not see it. Enterprise CRM platforms manage data access through a layered model combining object-level permissions (can you see this record type at all?), field-level security (can you see this specific field?), and record-level sharing rules (can you see this particular account?). Auditing and governing data access is also a compliance requirement under regulations such as GDPR and ISO 27001.
