Audit Log
An Audit Log is a chronological, tamper-resistant record of all significant actions taken within a CRM system — including who created, modified, or deleted a record, what changed, and when. For enterprise organizations, audit logs are not optional: they are required for regulatory compliance (such as GDPR, SOX, and ISO 27001), essential for resolving data disputes, and a critical tool for investigating security incidents. When a customer record is incorrectly changed, an audit log makes it possible to trace exactly what happened and restore the correct data. CRM platforms vary significantly in the granularity and retention period of their audit logging capabilities.
